Every person is brimming with potential and has an inner-World as vast and as textured as the Earth (and maybe even more so). We easily recognize this in children when they are playing—they seem to inhabit a place made of novelty and awe. As we grow older, we learn to “frame” our experience to give that infinite potential some actual (and not always helpful) utility. However complex and sophisticated these frames become, our potential remains the same, which is often referred to as our “inner child.” Whether you are just starting your life or are well-traveled, a relationship with your inner child is a must, and we cultivate that relationship through play.
Greetings everyone! My name is Michael Sousa. I moved to Fort Collins mainly because my inner child said I should be here. I arrived in this beautiful State with no prior connections, job prospects, or even housing, knowing that I would find a way to make it work. My life has been dedicated to cultivating a better relationship with my Self which has led me across the globe. The difficulties of my life, which presented mostly through physical and mental ailments, compelled me to study the many ways by which we heal ourselves (and each other). I’ve lived for years in other countries studying their healing arts and I’ve crossed paths with many great Healers. And now I find myself being mentored and guided by the amazing Kirsten Goffena and Melissa Graziano. With their guidance, I hope to keep cultivating my skills that allow others to develop the relationship with their inner child. My primary mission, in life and at Pathfinders, is to help individuals (no matter their age) live more meaningful and healthy lives in harmony with their families and community.
I am currently enrolled at Adams State University in their Master’s program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with the intent of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Colorado. In the not too distant past, I provided bodywork as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), offered guidance as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor and taught Yoga when I found time and space. Good health, although simple, has many moving parts and I’ve sought to understand as many of those parts throughout my winding career (and life). If anything…I feel like I’m just starting.
